Cholesterol is a soft, waxy substance that is both produced by the body and obtained from food. Endogenous cholesterol is formed by human cells, particularly liver cells. The liver produces varying amounts, usually about 1,000 milligrams a day. Exogenous cholesterol is absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract from food. Approximately 400 to 500 mg (or more) can be contained in foods from animal sources (especially egg yolks, meat, poultry, fish, seafood and whole-milk dairy products).1

Guggul
Guggul, also referred to as oleogum resin, has been used in Indian culture for 2,500 years. Guggul extract is obtained from the mukul myrrh tree, Commiphora mukul. The most effective guggul extracts are standardized for guggulsterone, the bioactive compound with documented cardiovascular benefits.†2
Research has demonstrated that guggul extracts support cardiovascular health through multiple mechanisms.† First, guggul and its key compound, guggulsterone, possess strong antioxidant capabilities.† Supplementation has been shown to protect lipids against oxidative damage.† Guggul extracts are also known to supports the body's natural anti-inflammatory response, thereby enhancing arterial health and blood flow.† Studies have also demonstrated that guggul and guggulsterones support healthy activity of the farnesoid x receptor (FXR), a transcriptional regulator which helps maintain cholesterol levels already within normal limits.†2,3 Finally, guggul can also influence cholesterol metabolism by supporting healthy bile homeostatis.†4

| Flush-Free Niacin |
Niacin, or vitamin B3, is crucial for the production of compounds, which play a key role in cellular metabolism.† In lipid metabolism, niacin supports healthy cholesterol production and assists in triglyceride breakdown to retain healthy cholesterol levels that are already within normal limits.†7
While many supplemental forms of niacin are available, inositol hexaniacinate is the preferred form because of its documented safety and tolerability. Inositol hexaniacinate is often referred to as 'flush-free niacin' because it is not associated with the side effects of other harsher forms of niacin.
