Carlson HCL and Pepsin tablets are enzymatic aids for the stomach when greater stomach acidity is desired. The main ingredient is Betaine Hydrochloride which supplies Hydrochloric Acid. Pepsin is included to split protein into peptides and polypeptides. A Pepsin deficiency is generally associated with a deficiency of Hydrochloric Acid in the stomach. Coated for ease in swallowing.
