Bromelain is a general name given to a family of proteolytic enzymes derived from Ananas comosus, the pineapple plant.
Bromelain has been shown to promote healing and reduce temporary and minor swelling and bruising following trauma or surgical procedures – including dental surgery.* Plastic surgeons have shown interest in bromelain because of its ability to increase the resorption rate of hematomas following surgery.* Bromelain exerts some of its effects because of it potent proteolytic activity. One study of patients with bone fractures found bromelain decreased swelling.
Ingredients
One Capsule Contains:
Bromelain (undiluted) 500 mg.
Other Ingredients: Hypromellose (derived from cellulose) capsule. May contain one or more of the following hypoallergenic ingredients to fill space – Leucine, Silicon Dioxide.
Note: This product does not contain lactose. Bromelain is derived from the pineapple plant.
Suggested Use: One capsule three times daily, or as otherwise directed by a health-care practitioner.
Warnings
ALLERGY WARNINGS
This product is contraindicated in an individual with a history of hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients.
Bromelain is derived from pineapple.
EXCIPIENT FREE
This product does not contain wheat, gluten, corn, yeast, soy, egg, dairy products, or artificial colors, sweeteners, or flavors. This product also does not contain lactose, palmitic acid, or magnesium, calcium, or vegetable stearates.
PREGNANCY WARNING
If pregnant or nursing, consult your health-care practitioner before using this product.
INTERACTIONS/CONTRAINDICATIONS
Because bromelain has fibrinolytic effects that may potentially inhibit blood clotting, this product should be used with caution or avoided in individuals taking anticoagulant medications.
OTHER WARNINGS
It is not recommended to remove the M.F. Bromelain powder from the capsule, as it can be irritating to the oral mucosa.
