Children's Basic Nutrients

Product Information

Unlike many multiple vitamin-mineral supplements for children, Children's Basic Nutrients contains no sugars, binders, or allergenic excipients. Only the finest, most bioavailable nutrients are used, and the easy-to-swallow, kid-size capsule makes dosing easy, even in young children. The two-part vegetarian capsule may also be taken apart and mixed into food (like apple sauce or yogurt) or liquid.

For finicky eaters who need more protein, try Medipro. Experienced parents have suggested that mixing the powders into yogurt and partially freezing it becomes a treat. A frozen fruit shake mixed in the blender is another way to provide these nutrients.

Six Capsules Contain:
Vitamin A (3,750 IU as Mixed Carotenes and 750 IU as Palmitate) 4,500 IU.
Vitamin C (as Ascorbic Acid) 250 mg.
Vitamin D (as Vitamin D3) 400 IU.
Vitamin E (as d-Alpha Tocopheryl) 120 IU.
Vitamin K (as Vitamin K1) 30 mcg.
Thiamine (as Thiamine HCl) 12 mg.
Riboflavin (as Riboflavin 5'-Phosphate) 3.3 mg.
Vitamin B3 (40 mg as Niacinamide and 9 mg as Niacin) 49 mg.
Vitamin B6 (as Pyridoxal 5'-Phosphate) 3 mg.
Folate (200 mcg as Calcium Folinate and 200 mcg as 5-Methyl-tetrahydrofolate) 400 mcg.
Vitamin B12 (67.5 mcg as Adenosylcobalamin and 67.5 mcg as Methylcobalamin) 135 mcg.
Biotin 120 mcg.
Pantothenic Acid (as Calcium Pantothenate) 124 mg.
Calcium (as Calcium Citrate-Malate) 90 mg.
Iron (as Iron Picolinate) 4.5 mg.
Iodine (as Potassium Iodide) 67.5 mcg.
Magnesium (as Magnesium Citrate-Malate) 85 mg.
Zinc (as Zinc Picolinate) 4.5 mg.
Selenium (as Selenium Picolinate) 60 mcg.
Copper (as Copper Picolinate) 0.45 mg.
Manganese (as Manganese Picolinate) 1.8 mg.

Potassium (as Potassium Citrate-Malate) 27 mg.

Other Ingredients: Hypromellose (derived from cellulose) capsule. May contain one or more of the following hypoallergenic ingredients to fill space – Leucine, Silicon Dioxide.

Suggested Use: Six capsules daily, or as otherwise directed by a health-care practitioner.

Warnings

ALLERGY WARNING
This product is contraindicated in an individual with a history of hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients.

Iodine may occasionally cause an allergic reaction in some individuals.

EXCIPIENT FREE
This product does not contain wheat, gluten, corn, yeast, soy, egg, dairy products, or artificial colors, sweeteners, or flavors. This product also does not contain lactose, palmitic acid, or magnesium, calcium, or vegetable stearates.

PREGNANCY WARNING
If pregnant or nursing, consult your health-care practitioner before using this product.

INTERACTIONS/CONTRAINDICATIONS
As vitamin K interferes with the effect of anticoagulant drugs (like Coumadin), the concurrent use of these agents should be avoided.

Folinic acid and 5-methyl-tetrahydrofolate supplementation is not recommended concurrently with methotrexate cancer therapy, as they can interfere with methotrexate's anti-neoplastic activity; however, these folate sources have not been shown to interfere with the anti-inflammatory activity of methotrexate. An individual taking methotrexate for psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis can safely take a supplement containing folate.

OTHER WARNINGS
Accidental overdose of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under six. Keep this product out of reach of children. In case of accidental overdose, call a doctor or poison control center immediately.
