Vitamin B-1, or thiamin, was the first of the B-vitamins to be discovered. Our bodies use it to process carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Thiamin is used by every cell in our bodies to make ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the main compound in our bodys energy cycle. Nerve cells especially need adequate amounts of vitamin B-1 to function properly.
